Ripley’s Aquarium Myrtle Beach

Attractions

Dangerous Reef

Perhaps the crown jewel of the aquarium, the Dangerous Reef offers an immersive 340-foot underwater tunnel experience. Imagine standing on a moving glide path encased in a 750,000-gallon tank bustling with sharks, majestic sea turtles, lurking green moray eels, and playful tarpons. This tunnel isn’t just an exhibit; it’s a surreal underwater adventure.

Rio Amazon & Living Gallery

Beyond the massive tank, the aquarium branches into specific themes. The Rio Amazon echoes tropical rainforests’ humid, dense atmosphere with its rich collection of species. Meanwhile, the Living Gallery is an artist’s paradise with vibrant corals, fascinating weedy sea dragons, and a sprawling giant octopus waiting to greet you.

Penguin Encounter

This delightful experience is tailored for those who fancy our tuxedo-wearing friends. The encounter comes in two versions:

VIP Penguin Experience: You get a comprehensive 30-minute learning session, a tactile experience with a penguin, and a unique Penguin Painting Experience where you assist in creating an 8×10 penguin artwork.

Regular Penguin Encounter includes a 30-minute encounter with a 15% discount for Annual Passholders. Participants still get to touch a penguin and learn from the knowledgeable staff. Remember, the encounter does not include general admission to the aquarium.

Both experiences cater to a maximum of ten people. Those aged four and above can partake, but children eight and under need an accompanying adult. Do remember to check in 20 minutes before your scheduled slot.

The New Penguin Habitat

Marking the most significant expansion in Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach’s two-decade legacy, this 5,500-square-foot marvel hosts the Ocean Wonders gallery with eight all-new tanks. The spotlight, however, is on the world-class penguin habitat, featuring an extensive viewing glass and an immersive 360-degree crawl tunnel. Don’t miss the penguin nursery!

Sloth Encounter

Dive into the tropical ambiance with a new Sloth Encounter. Here, you’ll meet Rico and Cleo, the two-toed sloths, and learn about the workings of the Aquarium. The encounter lasts roughly 45 minutes.

Stingray Experience

Dive into Friendship Flats and Ray Bay, accompanied by a seasoned Ripley’s Diver. Touch, feed, and snorkel with the magnificent stingrays. Suitable for those aged six and up, the experience is a 30-minute immersive dive into the world of rays.

Glass Bottom Boat Adventure

This unique North American experience offers an unparalleled view of the Dangerous Reef. Only a three-inch thick glass separates you from the sharks, sawfish, and over 8,500 aquatic creatures. The boats launch every half an hour, starting from 10:00 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.
